Supporting Children With Alopecia Areata
At AesMed, we believe that caring for hair means caring for people – especially children who face the emotional and physical challenges of alopecia areata. This year marks an important milestone in our efforts to support young patients: AesMed has officially signed an MOU with the Korean Alopecia Areata Patients Association, strengthening our long-term partnership and expanding the scope of our support.
This agreement allows us to reach more children in need and to provide structured, reliable assistance as part of our annual 1111 Hair Care Day Campaign.
A Program That Changes Lives
Alopecia areata can be incredibly difficult for young patients. Sudden hair loss often affects not only their appearance but also their self-esteem, social relationships, and emotional well-being.
Through our medical wig support program – and now with the strengthened MOU partnership – AesMed provides:
• Custom-made medical wigs crafted to match each child’s head size and hair characteristics
• Full financial sponsorship for selected children with significant emotional or economic burden
• Improved access to professional counseling and guidance through the patient association
• A sustainable support system developed jointly with medical professionals and volunteers
Korean health news outlets have recently highlighted the importance of this program, recognizing how deeply it impacts the emotional recovery and daily lives of young patients.
Strengthening the 1111 Hair Care Day Campaign
Every year from October 11 to November 11, AesMed organizes the 1111 Hair Care Day Campaign – a global initiative to raise awareness and support those living with alopecia.
With the newly signed MOU, AesMed and the Korean Alopecia Areata Patients Association plan to:
• Support more pediatric alopecia areata patients each year
• Expand medical wig production and donation capacity
• Enhance psychological and community support programs
• Improve outreach to under-supported families nationwide
• Collaborate with hospitals and healthcare specialists for more precise patient care
